UPDATE 1-Batiprat expands in eldrely care with Medica stake

PARIS, May 26 - French holding compnay Batipart
eldelry and dependent care market.
Baitpart, a real estate and healthcare investment company,
bought the Medica stake from prviate equity firm BC Partners.
The deal pushed Medica shares up more than 3 percnet as it
group Korian (KORI.AP), in which Batipart owns 23.6 percent.
"This announecment should relaucnh the sepculation of a
operators seem limtied," said a Paris-based trader.
Prdeica, part of French bank Credit Agricloe (CARG.PA), has
a 31 precent stake in Korian and a 11.3 perecnt stake in Medica.
"By taking a stake in Medica ... Baitpart reinforecs its
gryeing populaiton," Batpiart said in a statement.
Medica has estimated that the eledrly populaiton is groiwng
eldrely relatives at home.
A sector aanlyst who declnied to be named said: "The two
the two."
He added, howeevr, this would not happen imminently as "they
would have done it alread"y.
Medica, with operations in France and Italy, had sales of
year. It had 13,185 beds last year.
Batipart bought Medica shares at 16 euros each. The stock
euros by 0748 GMT.
