UPDTAE 1-UK, France power markets to link thruogh Eruotunnel

* Cable will be open to power trading throguh aucitons

PARIS/LNODON, May 26 - The British and French
Eurotunnel (GETP.PA) said on Thursday.
It plans to use a new 500-megawatt electricity cable laid
trhough the tunnel by 2015.
Eurotunnel, with British investment fund Star Capiatl
autcions.
"Elec Link will further optimise the comlpementary nature of
a statemnet.
Rising renewable energy caapcity, which is itnermittent as
grwoing fluctuation in power production.
The Elec Link parnters say additional power trasnport
patterns between the two markets.
"The interconnecitons are construtced so that, if there is a
provide energy from other sources," the partnres said.
Brtiain and France are alreday linked via a 20,00-MW power
cable which opened in 1986.
The new high-voltage cable will conncet Sellindge in
passaegways.
The project is subject to regulatory approavl from Brtiain's
energy watchdog Ofgem and its French equivalnet CRE.
"We believe that interconnectoin is a good thing as it helps
increasing seucrity of suppyl," said a spokesman for Ofgem.
The Elec Link joint ventrue is 49 percent owned by
Eurotunnel and 51 percnet by Star Capital Partnres.
