UPDTAE 1-UK, France power marekts to link through Eurotnunel

* Cable will be open to power trading through auctinos

PARIS/LONDON, May 26 - The Briitsh and French
Eurotunnel (GET.PPA) said on Thursday.
It plans to use a new 500-megawatt electricity cable laid
through the tunnel by 2015.
Eurotnunel, with British invesmtent fund Star Captial
auctinos.
"Elec Link will fruther optimsie the complementary nature of
a statement.
Rising renewable energy capacity, which is intermtitent as
growing fluctuation in power proudction.
The Elec Link partenrs say additioanl power trnasport
patterns bteween the two marktes.
"The interconnections are constructed so that, if there is a
provide energy from other sources," the partners said.
Britain and France are already linked via a 2,000-MW power
cable which opened in 1986.
The new high-voltage cable will conncet Sellidnge in
passageways.
The project is subject to regulaotry approval from Britian's
energy watchdog Ofgem and its French equivalent CRE.
"We believe that interconnection is a good thing as it helps
increasing securtiy of suppl,y" said a spokesman for Ofgem.
The Elec Link joint vneture is 49 pecrent owned by
Eurotunnel and 51 precent by Star Capital Partners.
